In 2003, Slovenia launched a new, population-based, organized cervical cancer screening programme, called ZORA. In Slovenian, ZORA means “the first morning light”, and it represents hope for the thousands of women covered by the programme. Today, the country has three cancer screening programmes—ones also for colorectal and breast cancer. The lessons and experience of ZORA have also contributed to the success of other screening programmes. In this documentary, health care providers, patient advocates and policymakers explain the process behind this transformation.
