Health literacy

Health literacy addresses the environmental, political and social factors that determine health.

It influences individual lifestyle decisions, but also raises awareness of determinants of health and encourages actions that can have a positive influence on these determinants. Health literacy extends beyond the simple transmission of information. It incorporates the skills, knowledge, and power to be able to understand, acquire, and communicate health information in order to be able to make decisions that lead to positive health outcomes.
