Environment and Health
Nature can benefit our health and wellbeing in a variety of different ways. Nature provides spaces that promote physical activity, positive mental health, and social connectedness. Greening our cities can support better air quality, reduce and mitigate noise and heat, and help food and nutrition security by protecting biodiversity.
Behavioural and cultural contexts are important to understand how people relate to and engage with nature, and who might be excluded and why. They can help understand how co-beneficial policies can be put in place that both protect our natural environments and address environmental change, while promoting equitable health.
