WHO Tailoring Immunization Programmes (TIP) studies in New South Wales, Australia, 2016-2021: A project summary report

Research | |

Between 2016 and 2021, researchers from the University of Newcastle in collaboration with the University of Sydney, World Health Organization, NSW Ministry of Health and local Public Health Units (PHUs) worked with a range of local immunisation stakeholders to complete World Health Organization Tailoring Immunization Programmes (TIP) studies in five regional communities in New South Wales, Australia. Working across Maitland, Umina, Tamworth, Kempsey and Lismore, the aim of this research was to explore the barriers to childhood immunisation in areas of low coverage and known socio-economic need, and to identify strategies to improve coverage.

Aims of the report
The aims of the report are to:

  • summarise and reference key findings and achievements (capacity building, presentations and publications) from these five TIP studies
  • acknowledge all individuals involved in these studies in various capacities;
  • suggest potential 'next steps' in terms of evaluating, sharing and adapting the TIP study methodology, study findings and lessons learned
